Rhythm-a-ning

The word is RHYTHM.

First of all, make sure you can spell it correctly.

• VC: Introduction to rhythm. We'll be reviewing whole, half, quarter and eighth notes and practicing rhythm drills.
• Chamber: Rhythm drills in simple and compound meters.
• Mixed Rep Piano: Everyone should be working on the A major scale by now. Let's get this checked off this week so we can start with E major next week. Great job on D major, guys! You're all showing improvement.
• Women's Rep: Rhythm drills in simple meter.

Week of September 17

Hi everyone! It's finally starting to feel like fall!!! :) 

• VC: We'll be prepping for your quiz on Friday 9/21. We'll give you some sight singing examples (both major AND minor) for which you will provide the correct sight singing numbers. Also, don't forget that you have scale check-offs at the end of the week! 
• Chamber: This week we're working mostly on All-State skills, in particular sight reading. Make sure you're keeping up with your game! 
• Mixed Rep: We'll be back on our regular piano schedule Wednesday. I'd love it if everyone can check off D major this week, but I'll give you until Tuesday of next week if you really need it... 
• Women's Rep: Sight singing, sight singing, sight singing!!!

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great summer and is ready to "get to gettin'" as Ms. White would say. :) VC Theory: We started groups last week and reviewed the numbers of the major, minor & chromatic scales as well as began the notes of the treble clef. This week we will continue with treble clef and add bass clef. Your next quiz will be this Friday, September 14, and it will be on notes in the treble & bass clefs. Mixed Rep Piano: You all did great work last week by checking off the C major scale & cadence. This week we'll work on the G major scale & cadence, checking it off by Thursday. Women's Rep Theory: We'll begin groups this week. Get ready to review the circle of 5ths & all major key signatures! Have a great week, Ms.P
